And Built Instead

She stood upon the cusp of day to greet the morning light
Opening her mind and soul to all the good she might
Find to bring into her life to cheer herself and others
Pleased to welcome all the splendor found of nature's wonders
Within the world she had known each day before the now
That she had gathered over time to see her through the scowls
From others who'd not time nor faith to greet her as friend
In their existence forged by ideas that blocked their sights within
A shallow world of one opinion excluding the value she gave
To be allowed inside their lives where only chaos they craved
She braved them all with a smile forgave their lack of knowing
That what she carried in her life was worth her minds bestowing
In gentle words from whispered breaths to flower, sky and those
Who thirst to know the softness of a calming, caring soul
She gave no place to hateful actions that curse the good in life
She gave no thought to hurtful words to plague another's mind
She gave herself every good thought of what could be made better
She cheered her mind, she wiped her tears, she greeted love where ever
It could be found alive and well to be a part of a whole
Gave to those who plant, grow, bloom the gardens of the soul
Where no man's eyes can see or touch with fleshly human hand
Nor can be robbed, pillaged,  plundered by greed's ungrateful plans
Like stars she counted as a child making them her diamonds
So no matter where her feet stood she would always find them
Quiet, still, lighting paths across the dark that would
Swallow up the universe if only that it could
Rid itself of such simple joys that please such innocent wonders
Bringing happiness to the lives like hers and many others
It's there she found the strength to believe in her way of loving
It's there she realized the tasks her soul found worth betrothing
To live each day inside the bliss that grew from year to year
Within her mind where she did find the gifts that robbed the fears
Of their hate, of their power, of their constant bickering
And built instead a love in her head that conquered both wars and kings
