The Gift of Friendship from Within

So softly rises morning light through tree leaf breezes lighting sky
And I from slumber wake to see the gifts of living as they be
Readying for the day, anticipating all the ways you and I may partake
The festive comforts that we favor to be memories we will treasure
From this day and ever after as the times that truly mattered
More than moments spent away from each other in distant places
Doing things that must be done remaining true to become
All we hold authentically with hope our love will grow to be
More than some fleeting chance arranged by fear of circumstance
Of loneliness whose lurking shadow accepted from a place below
What our minds and lives did want to fill the emptiness that taunted
Itself as something more than love never believing it's enough
To be the changing aspects in the gift of friendship from within
Taking time to realize that behind the smiles of fashioned lives
Breathes the basic needing's of unconditional reciprocated love
Looking for a place to be loosed to grow and to believe
That even though challenges rise they conquer more with truth than lies
To open up and free from fear all the anguish of the years
Where others cast their ire and woes upon a love wanting to grow
Without the preconceived perceptions that love be used as a weapon
In manipulated schemes to satisfy fake envisioned scenes
Of shallow romanced ideals of passion that start and stop by obsessions
Learned from needing true affection and acceptance with direction
Beyond doubts and de facto that a breathing loving soul
Could be given room to grow without the need to be controlled
By anger, greed and jealousy to over come the empty needs
Bringing forward to a time two who would confront define
Themselves to each one another a open mind to find the comfort
In receiving without hesitation the other's needs and obligations
Wanting each the other to know that it's alright to want to hold
Real emotions close to them and protect them from the realms
Where idle hands and minds in search would only use them to besmirch
What made the love of one so dear reach out to find a life to cheer
With gentle warming patient acceptance genuinely offering in replacement
Of nagging degrading hateful hurts a life to love and time to work
On becoming more than a prize to the passing glance of eyes
A person cherished a soul refined knowing love brings by design
The beauty of what they would be the better of their love when free
To express to achieve what's held inside their mindful needs
Giving sharing with another as a confidant, friend and lover
All that's wanted, all that's there inside the other without compare
To a flight of fancied lust that disappears like wind swept dust
The gift of loving togetherness beyond the challenges and distress
Begins when eyes wake to find that next to them devotion resides
In the other freedom reigns to bring them safely through their days
With aspiration, forgiveness, eagerness to secure them both with happiness
